About Nick

I’m Nick. I live just outside of Canterbury in Kent, in Southeast England with my wife and daughter. My family and I recently transplanted ourselves here from London, escaping the city for a better quality of life and to raise the toddler. I spend too much time and money faffing around with technology and cameras, and you might see some of that here.

Professionally, I am interested in solving problems and understanding why things are the way they are. I’ve had an interest in technology and computers for as long as I’ve known what they are. Once upon a time, I’d have said that I was all about data and how it can be used to make things better. Now, I’d say I am less naive, and that data is just one way of approaching the real work of change. Sadly, most people use data or technology as a crutch to avoid the real work of understanding which problem they’re trying to solve and what’s needed to make it happen.

Generally, I believe that we are the sum of the choices we make, and all of us make more bad than good choices in a life. However, it’s still possible to come out ahead if we try hard and keep on learning.
